How can I control the proper function of the antibodies with the control lysates? |
| |
The lysates included with your antibody order can be used for Western Blotting. The control-lysate containes a whole cell lysate including a protein tagged with the epitope of interest (more information about the size of the tagged protein can be found on the accompanying data sheets ). In addition to the control-lysate, the shipment contains a so-called mock-lysate, which does not contain an epitope-tagged protein, but the same amount of total cellular proteins. Using the supplied positive (control lysate) and negative samples (mock-lysate) in Western Blotting, you will be able to determine, if the epitope-tagged protein in the control lysate is specifically detected by the antibodies. Furthermore, you can directly compare these controls against the epitope-tagged proteins in your own samples.

We also offer control- and mock-lysates independent of an antibody order. Please consult the order form for package sizes and order numbers.
